New pillows

Last fall I made some covers for my pillows in a striped pattern with orange, brown, red and green.  They were perfect for Fall and Winter, but now I wanted something a little brighter for Spring and Summer.  I decided to add a bit more of the bright spring green into my living room with the red.  I have moss balls and plants in that color so I decided it would be the perfect touch.

The new on the left the old on the right!

I love the crispness of the new fabric!
The new look..............
Once again, I love sewing pillow covers because it's so quick and it transforms the look of your room so fast!  Just a couple hours...........and voila'!  The only thing I did different this time was to add velcro at the closure in the back so the pillow doesn't "squish" out the back!

It has arrived!

The book I made for Nathan arrived!  It actually arrived only 10 days after I ordered it and I LOVE it!!  When I went to the airport to pick Nathan up I gave it to him in the car!

It turned out fabulous - all the blog posts are in it and it INCLUDES the comments that you all left for us.  All the verses, lyrics, words of encouragement - it's all there.  I was going to make a scrapbook for Nathan and hand type all the comments and print them and put them in the book, but this is WAY better!

I just picked which blog posts I wanted in the book, and then I could add extra pics in the back.  It turned out fabulous and I ordered one for Nathan, and one for myself!

It is such a blessing to go back and read the comments and encouragement - we felt so loved!  It is also such a reminder of the unknown that God faithfully brought us through.  We didn't know the road he was taking us down, but we certainly knew HE was holding our hands!!

Cleanup, relax and repeat..................

After cleaning up from Saturday's dinner party I was pretty wiped out.  Sunday was a bit of a fog and we sat around the house all day - of course the weather didn't inspire us to do anything else ;(.

Monday, we turned around and did it all over again.  We hosted a dinner for Friends of Lynden Christian.  Marla came and helped in the afternoon, and Stacy once again worked her magic on the tables!!  Nothing like good help to make things go smoothly!

All went well and this party ended much earlier so clean up was done and I was in bed before 10:30!

I hope you're enjoying the sunshine.  I just enjoyed a cup of tea out on the back porch by the fireplace while I listened to the frogs, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Happy 50th Kathi!

Saturday night we hosted a classy, semi-formal dinner party for my BFF Kathi!  We've been friends for almost 30 years!  How I love that girl!  She is kind, compassionate, beautiful, creative, hostess extraordinaire, a follower of Jesus Christ, trustworthy, honest, loyal and...........she calls me friend!  Kathi has walked through many "fires" with me, always loving and encouraging!  It was a pleasure and a privilege to celebrate her 50 years!

There were about 20 guests and we had a fabulous evening!  Just a few pics for you to enjoy!

Good friends, good food, good fellowship!

Welcome home Nathan!

Yesterday I got to pick Nathan up at SeaTac airport.  He was flying home from Kona.  He's been gone since March 23rd.  He was anxious to get home - he said he was so tired of warm air and was ready to breathe in cool air.  I told him that I didn't think that would be a problem here !! ;)

He joined us for dinner last night so I had to grab a quick pic!
On Friday I drive to Spokane to bring Brandon home for the summer.  Once again, like last year - all my kids are home - only this will be a MUCH BETTER summer!!

I was thinking we would have family pics with everyone home - our last family pics were October of '07, so we are overdue.  But, looking at the color of Nathan's skin compared to us "mainlanders", I'm thinking we need to tan up a little and he needs to fade a little ;).

Bionic Man?!?!

So I get these pics from Nathan in Hawaii...........................
.........and my heart stops!!  I say "Nathan, do you think you're invincible?" and he says "Mom, I'm the bionic man" !  I then went on (as a Mother has to :) to remind him that yes, he is the MILLION dollar man - but he's not bionic - just full of metal.

Clean shaven is definitely more handsome to me!
Nathan is the one in the front in the blue and white shorts.
No, he's not harpooning whales!
I think back to last year on May 7th when we brought him home from the hospital.  Confined to a hospital bed, not able to do anything without help, not walking for months.  So, in light of that, I AM so grateful that he is living life to the fullest - just one year later (but that doesn't mean that it doesn't just freak me out!!!)
