The Phantom has come and gone

Well after much anticipation - Emily and I have been to see Phantom of the Opera. We went with our friends Kim & Becky (I pulled a lamebrainer and forgot my camera so I will have to get pics from Becky) to a Sunday evening show. It was at the Paramount theater which is beautiful (with very tight rows I might add :-0 )! I have never seen it before and I was very excited. It was a great experience - and WOW - the special effects, costumes, and talent were breathtaking. Emily decided she likes the movie better (I think it's because it's more of a story and the singing is not as operatic). But now we have one more mother/daughter memory I can scrapbook!!! Speaking of scrapbooking, I got to scrapbook all day Saturday!! My friend Sherri sells Creative Memories and she had a crop. I got 17 pages done in Brandon's book, so now his book is caught up to Oct. of his 8th grade year. My goal is to get his photo albums done by graduation (did I mention he's a Senior) so I will be doing some scrappin'!! If anyone is interested in a Friday evening crop or a Saturday crop - let me know, I'd love to host one!

NOW - on to stampin' stuff!!

I am busy making a sample for my October Stamp Class! A Perpetual Calendar! As soon as I have the sample done and costs figured out I will post the info. For now - so as to entice you - the picture is of a "Perpetual Calendar" that a friend and I made last year. I love it! The one we make will obviously be with Stampin' Up! stuff so I'm sure it will be much cuter!! It's great because you can use it from year to year. What an awesome Christmas present it would make, along with some handstamped Birthday cards, for that hard to buy for friend, Mother/mother in law, etc.(or keep it for yourself like I did) I will have a sample posted by weeks end.

DON'T FORGET!!!!!! This Thursday, Oct. 2nd is my monthly Stamp Camp - see details on the top right hand side of my blog or email me if you have any questions. Just make sure you call by Thurs. afternoon so I have enough workspace for everyone - and so I know how much CHOCOLATE to have on hand!!

Wish you had been here......................................

Last night was the Simply Scrappin' Card Class (see Sept. 5th post) here at my house! There were 8 ladies that came and the adhesive and cardstock were flying!! Here is half the group having fun AND playing! (No - I didn't make them do the laundry while they were in there......maybe next time :-) Sorry to the other table - I was having too much fun (and eating way too much candy corn) to remember to take more pics! They all whipped those cards out so fast, before I knew it they were packing up their stack of cards and heading home!

Here are the tables set up and ready to go. Everyone got a 1/2 pack of a Simply Scrappin' Kit and 12 envelopes (see picture below) and most went home with more than 12 cards - some even 24! Does that look like fun stuff or what! There was a lot of laughter, homemade spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and a lot of productivity!

Everyone said it was a LOT more fun than they had even imagined it would be!! These cards go together so fast and turn out so cute! I will be doing a Christmas one in November - so watch the blog for samples and dates!

I will be making a sample for the October Stamp Camp - which tenatively I have chosen to do a perpetual calendar which is a month by month calendar with dates only - no days of the week or year on it. You use it from year to year to keep track of birthday's and special occasions instead of having to transfer everything from year to year on a new calendar! Details and pictures to arrive soon!

ALSO------------------I have tenatively set Thurs., Oct. 16th to be the first offical Stamp Club night. Those of you who have indicated you wanted to join a Stamp Club will recieve an email from me with all the details, and on Monday I will post the 3rd project with the official information. There's still time to join.........................................

Have an awesome weekend-Maybe even fit in some scrappin' or stampin'!!

Remember embossing powder and glitter.....?

Well here it is Monday and I think summer is over. It was still a beautiful fall today (it is officially fall today)!! So in honor of fall - I made a "summer style" card! :-) Actually, I didn't intend to make a summery card at all. Friday evening I was craftin' with 3 of my girlfriends and I embossed something in red for one of the gals and it was beautiful! I had forgotten how fun and pretty embossing is. So today I was resolved to use embossing powder!! The card is not very fancy, but it is fun and I pulled out 3 - yes 3! oldie but goodies!! Embossing powder, glitter and last but not least - THE CRIMPER!! Remember your ol' friend the crimper! He misses you! The flower is embossed in red, I put glitter in the middle of the flower and I crimped the red paper behind the flower. It's hard to see all that - but it's pretty cute!

This is the 2nd of the 3 projects that we will be making at our October Stamp Club workshop - can you tell I'm still trying to tantalize a few of you into joining us?!?! I will have a date set by the end of this week for our first club so there's still time to call or email me (rjkorthuis@comcast.net) and join! I will post the 3rd project later this week!

This card uses the Eastern Blooms stamp set (pg. 91- still 15% through Sept. 30), Bashful blue and Real Red CS (pg. 164&165), confetti white CS (pg.166) Real Red Craft Ink Pad (pg. 164) , Versamark Ink pad (pg. 193)Clear Embossing Powder&Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (pg. 190) and 1/2"Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (pg. 186), and last but not least your friend and mine Mr. Crimper (pg. 192).

Here it is Wednesday afternoon - this week is almost gone and I'm afraid summer is coming to an end! But rainy evenings, mean crafty evenings :-)!

I've just about got all the details ready to go and will email all of you involved directly. I can always add more so don't hesitate to email with questions if you're thinking you'd like to be in a stamp club.

This card uses the new stamp set (which is die cut - no cutting rubber!) Upsy Daisy (pg. 101) which is on sale through Sept. 30th for $16.11 (reg. price $18.95). The base of the card is Kraft Brown CS, Very Vanilla CS (pg. 166) Manchester Double-Sided Designer Series Paper 12x12, (pg. 170) Bordering Blue CS, (pg. 165) Bordering Blue Ink Pad (pg 165) Sahara Sand Ink Pad (pg 163) Scallop Edge Punch (pg. 188) and Gold brads (pg. 185). I used the shadow stamping method to get the layered look of the flowers. Join us and come make this card....................

Talk to you all soon! It's Fall and it's time to stamp and scrap................................

(PS not to scare any of you, but have you given any thought to Christmas cards?!?!)

Weekend in Oregon

This is Randy, Emily and I with Michaela - isn't she a doll? This is the first time we've gotten to meet her, as she just arrived in February! Love at first sight!

This is our friend Tammy McGinnis with her oldest daughter Mariah (who I fell in love with 7 years ago!). Emily and I went shopping at the Woodburn Company Stores outlet mall with Tammy and Mariah. This place is incredible and has the most beautiful flower displays you've ever seen! (the shopping is awesome too!)
Emily and Michaela hit if off right away!
The whole reason we went to Oregon was for my niece Beckii's wedding. Here she is at the reception with her new husband Brian - can you guess where they're headed for their honeymoon? :-)

We took Brandon to Corban college for his first official college visit. Kind of made this mommy sad.....I can't believe he graduates in 9 months!!

This blog is mainly for my stampin' business, but I have to add some personal touches too!
