4 solid hours!

Last night, Nathan was so miserable from 10pm-2am. We shifted, propped, ate applesauce, etc nothing worked, finally after his 1:30 meds he settled down and we both slept! Ahhhh!

We are still in a private room - keep praying we can stay here as long as possible!!

Today they hope to get him up and in a special chair and we can wheel him around if he wants. He's had 3 drains and from the surgery sites, and those all came out today! Progress, progress, progress.

Watching Nathan consumed with pain is - unbearable. I talk a lot to God during these times. Randy is still here today and we look forward to some family today.

Thanks so much for your continued love, support and prayers.

Randy, Jan, Nathan and family:
My heart goes out to you as you struggle to watch Nathan go through such pain! I also want you to recall the Lord's promise in Romans 5:1-5: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. While these verses primarily were written to Christians suffering persecution, they can be a promise to us when we experience pain as well. When there is pain, the evil one so readily desires to pull us away from our MIGHTY GOD. Thus we quickly can experience spiritual warfare.
For all the pain that Nathan experiences, God can and will speak through the pain itself, if he allows it. Perseverance and Character are prominent results of this experience and Hope follows. Hang on to these thots as you pray for and with Nathan through the pain!

What an exciting next step! Being able to be wheeled around! Wohoo! I found some verses for you guys. Just a reminder of God's love for us in hard times. :)

Isaiah 35:3-6 "With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, 'Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.' And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland."

And another, which is the same verse as the previous commenter, but from the New Living Translation.

Romans 5:3-5 "We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develps strenght of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."

I hope today brings newfound hope and encouragement for all of you! :)

Thinking of you sister - as we worshipped today, grieving, praying and elevating our precious Savior, I kept thinking of that Michael W Smith Song "All is Well". I know it is technically a Christmas song but in the midst of the hurt, the struggles, the questions, I rest knowing because of our Savior . . . All is Well. Love ya Debbie-doo

Here's one for you and Nathan:

Psalm 41:1-3
How blessed is he who considers the helpless; the Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble. The Lord will protect him, and keep him alive, and he shall be called blessed upon the earth; and do not give him over to the desire of his enemies. The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; in his illness, Thou dost restore him to health.

And then there's this for you:

1 Cor. 13:7
(Love) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Your cousin,
Denise
